Agartala, Tripura, 19th of September, 2025 : The issue of providing stipend to OBC students is under the Central scheme. In the last three financial years, 96,799 (ninety-six thousand seven hundred and ninety-nine) students of the OBC community have received stipend in the State.
This information was given by the Hon’ble Industries & Commerce, OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma, in a written reply to a question by MLA Shailendra Chandra Nath in the Assembly on Friday (19th September, 2025). The Minister of OBC Welfare Department, Santana Chakma, said that in the last three financial years, an expenditure of Rs. 8885.55 lakhs has been spent on stipend to OBC students. OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma also said that the issue of providing stipend to another 33,777 (thirty-three thousand seven hundred and seventy-seven) OBC students is under process and an estimated expenditure of Rs. 4146.69 lakhs may be incurred.
