Agartala, Tripura, 29th of September 2025 : The Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) as well as Dearness Relief (DR for the State Government employees and pensioners respectively w.e.f. 1 October 2025 during the last Session of Assembly. With this announcement the total quantum of DA and DR will be 36% w.e.f. 1 October 2025 in respect of the State Government employees and pensioners while the Central Government employees and pensioners are getting 55% DA and DR w.e.f. 1 January 2025.
It is pertinent to mention here that at that time the Government was supposed to make an announcement to accord sanction towards a quantum of more than 3% DA as well as DR for the State Government employees and pensioners respectively. However Dr. Saha also clarified that despite the State going through financial constraints, the welfare Government granted the said quantum of DA as well as DR for its employees and pensioners respectively. For this purpose, an expenditure of Rs.125 cores will be met out from the public exchequer.
In recent past, Agartala has been declared as ‘Y’ category city and the officers of All India Services posted in Tripura and Tripura Judicial Service have been allowed the House Rent Allowance (HRA) applicable for the ‘Y’ category cities from the month of April, 2025 vide Finance Department Memorandum No.F.46(1)-FIN (EXPDT-II)/2025/13 of 24 April 2025 issued by Dinesh Debbarma, Under Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Tripura.
The current House Rent Allowance (HRA) for Y category cities is 16% of their basic pay, as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. This rate will increase to 18% when the Dearness Allowance (DA) crosses 25%, and then to 20% when the DA crosses 50%.
Accordingly, the State Government employees have started to demand before the State Government for increasing their HRA at par with them. In this connection, so many representations from the various organisations of the Government employees have been submitted before the appropriate authority of the State Government. It is needless to mention here that presently the State Government employees are getting 8% HRA.
It is learnt from a reliable source of the concerned Ministry of the Government of India that the Government of Tripura is going to make an announcement to increase a particular allowance by at least 15% for the State Government employees and or Pensioners within the month of October, 2025. The said allowance may be further DA and DR or HRA.
