Agartala, Tripura, 13th of January, 2026 : Under the 5th Implementation Support Mission (ISM), a World Bank expert team comprising Mr. Amit Arora and Mr. Ananta visited Yaphag Agri Producer Group (PG) and Jabab Piggery Producer Group of Tulasikhar RD Block on 13 January 2026 to assess the on-ground implementation and outcomes of the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP).

The visit was attended by senior officials, including Mr. Abhedananda Baidya, ADM & Collector, Khowai district, Smt. Sonali Laskar, IBSI Specialist, Mr. Subrata Shib, Agriculture–Horticulture Specialist, Deputy Director of Fisheries, Agriculture Sector Officer of Tulasikhar Block, Dr. Siba Prasad Majumder, and TSA (Agriculture), among others.
During the visit, the World Bank officials interacted extensively with members of both Producer Groups, visited cultivation fields and piggery units, and held discussions with CLF office bearers and members. The team closely examined financial transaction processes, production levels, marketing linkages, and overall profitability, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the project’s effectiveness at the grassroots level.

Members of the Yaphag Agri PG shared encouraging outcomes from brinjal cultivation undertaken with TRESP support. A total of 15 members cultivated brinjal on 15 kani of land after availing a loan of ₹2.39 lakh. The group has already earned over ₹3.75 lakh from the produce and has begun repayment of the loan. With the crop still standing in the field, the members expect to generate an additional income of at least ₹1 lakh, reflecting strong profitability and sustainability of the intervention.
A similar positive experience was observed during the visit to the Jabab Piggery PG, where improved production practices and organized management under TRESP have led to encouraging income generation and livelihood security for the members.

The World Bank team expressed high satisfaction after witnessing the successful implementation of TRESP at the ground level and appreciated the collective efforts of the Producer Groups and field functionaries. The experts noted that the TRESP model is significantly contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of women, strengthening livelihoods and promoting self-reliance in rural and tribal villages of the state.
During the interaction, PG members also requested the World Bank team to consider additional support for irrigation facilities and farm mechanization, which would further enhance productivity and income in the coming years.

The visit reaffirmed the World Bank’s confidence in TRESP as a robust, community-driven development model, capable of delivering sustainable growth and empowering women across Tripura’s rural and tribal areas.
