Sonamura, Tripura, 18th of January, 2026 : On the basis of secret information Sepahijala District Police, in joint operations with 81 BN BSF, TSR battalions, Forest officials and other agencies, carried out a massive crackdown on illicit Ganja (cannabis) cultivation on Sunday (18th January, 2026) from the morning 7:30am at various locations of the district.
According to report, on the basis of secret information at Sepahijala District Police, in joint operations with 81 BN BSF, TSR battalions and other agencies area in forest land and total found 35nos. ganja plant plot, where approx total 1.3 Lakh mature ganja plant destroy on spot. This operation conducted jointly by Sonamura PS, 81 BN BSF, 11th BN TSR, 14BN TSR and Sonamura Forest. The destination market value of the seized ganja is approx – 1,30,000,000/- forest Division.
Interacted with media Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station gave details about this today. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
