Agartala, Tripura, 2nd of April, 2026 : The Tripura Government has undertaken a landmark initiative to make healthcare services more advanced, transparent, and accessible by leveraging digital services. An Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS) is being implemented across all district hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, rural hospitals, and primary health centres in the State.

As a result, patients will be able to quickly obtain outpatient tickets by scanning QR codes and easily access all their health-related information. This project is committed to delivering modern, data-driven healthcare to every citizen, including those in remote areas of the state. The people of the state will benefit from this initiative.
Today (2nd April, 2026), at the Secretariat, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Director Dr. Debashree Debbarma, State Mission Director (ABDM) Dr. G. Sharath Nayak, Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharjee, and Deputy Director Dr. Alok Dewan, along with representatives from Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL), instructed that no effort should be spared to ensure the successful implementation of the IHMIS service in the interest of the people of the State.
He directed the representatives of Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) to ensure hudred percent success of this initiative and instructed the concerned officials to arrange all necessary resources. He emphasized that there must be no negligence in carrying out this work and urged strict vigilance in its execution. He also stressed the importance of ensuring active participation of the state’s doctors and healthcare staff in this process.
It is worth mentioning that on March 30, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) to implement the IHMIS. The MoU was signed by Health Director Dr. Debashree Debbarma, State Mission Director (ABDM) Dr. G. Sharath Nayak, and Usha Mangalgi on behalf of BECIL.
The IHMIS project is set to be launched with the aim of fully digitizing the state’s healthcare services. One of its key features is the creation of Digital Health Records. Through this, a digital health record will be generated for every citizen of the state, enabling doctors to easily access a patient’s previous medical history whenever they visit any government hospital.
The system is also integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, a flagship initiative of the central government. Under this, every citizen will be provided with an ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) ID.
Paperless services will be introduced, along with online registration to reduce long queues in outpatient and emergency departments at hospitals. The ABHA system has already been implemented in state hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, and various primary hospitals, and it will now be extended to all Primary Health Centres.
In addition, an e-prescription system will be introduced, and tele-consultation services will be strengthened. Through IHMIS, telemedicine facilities are being enhanced so that people in remote areas can directly access expert consultations from specialists at Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital and IGM Hospital.
