Allegations Primary Section of Harbatali High School open 10–12 days.

Sabroom, Tripura, 27th of November, 2025 : Harbatali High School located in Harbatli ADC Village, under Subroom School Inspector in Sabroom Subdivision. The school was established in 1955. It is widely known as a fully indigenous populated area. The morning primary section of this school has more than 50 students, while there is only one teacher for this section.

The name of that teacher is Shuklal Shil. Starting from the guardians of the school to the vice-chairman of the SMC committee and local leaders, everyone locked the school. Their allegation is that Shuklal Shil, the teacher of this school, attends school only 10–12 days out of 30 in a month according to his own wishes. He marks the students present in the attendance register, provides the mid-day meal, stays for an hour or two, and then locks the school and leaves, giving one excuse or another. These allegations have been made by the mid-day meal cook, the vice-chairperson of the SMC committee, and the guardians.

Even after repeatedly informing the authorities both in writing and verbally, no action was taken. As a result, the guardians became frustrated and were compelled to lock the school on Wednesday morning. For the past one year, the students school-going children have been continuing their studies in this disrupted manner day after day.

The students of the school complain that they come to school every day on time, but upon arriving, they find the school closed. After playing for a while, they return home.

Meanwhile, the same school’s high school section has 84 students and 5 teachers. Due to the lack of adequate classrooms and teachers for the 84 students, proper teaching is not taking place. One of the students said that the school’s infrastructure is not in good condition, and due to the absence of a boundary wall, various antisocial activities occur in the school premises. The general guardians of the area have drawn the attention of the state’s Chief Minister and the state’s Education Minister regarding these issues.
