Amarpur, Tripura, 12th of August 2026 : With the initiative of Ampi Forest Range 77th Van Mohatsav programme has been conducted here in Ampi block premises, Amarpur in Gomati Tripura today. On this occasion the concerned forest officials, block staffs, students and local villagers have assembled here on the programme venue and took participation in this plantation motivational event. In presence of many dignitaries Ampi 41 constituency MLA Pathan Lal Jamatia has inaugurated the programme. Aiming the theme, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ the initiative has influenced the participants. As per the report, Vanmohatsav was initiated in July 1950 by Dr. K.M Munshi who was the union minister for agriculture and food at that time. To generate awareness amidst students and other participants honourable MLA has said,

“Van Mahotsav is an annual week-long tree-planting festival in India celebrated from July 1st to July 7th in every year. Its significance lies in raising environmental awareness, fighting deforestation, mitigating climate change, preventing soil erosion, and encouraging citizens to increase the country’s green cover during the monsoon season as well as fights global warming. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release clean oxygen. Plants protects soil erosion by their roots extension. Roots hold the soil tightly to stop erosion and keep land fertile. Trees save water too. Forests help rain soak into the ground to refill water tables. Planting trees builds homes for birds and wildlife. Plants enhance social and economic value by providing resources. Trees provide flower, food, fruit, shed, timber, medicine and cattle feed. Van Mohatsav programme unites people, communities, schools, and groups work together on planting drives. teaches youth to plant saplings and protect them. Children learn to respect and protect nature from an early age.” The participant dignitaries have planted saplings in different locations including Ampi Nagar block premises. To create inspiration amidst people and students saplings were distributed in the programme. To make the event more fascinating the concerned organizer has constituted indigenous traditional cultural dance programme also. Amidst the distinguished participants there were Kamal Kalai, Ampi MDC, Sindhu Chandra Jamatia, Ampi BAC chairman, Pabitra Jamatia F. Range. RO Ampi range, Dharmajit Singh, Fr. B.O, Tuidu beat, Raju Chakrabarty, Fr. B.O, Chankhala, Abdul Basit, Beat officer, Raju Deb, Fr. R.Assistant, Ampi range, Bipul Debbarma, Fr, B.O, Dhanlekha Beat and many others remained present in the programme.
