Agartala, 27th of April, 2024 : With the initiative of Tripura Sports Journalist Club Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony 2023-24 has been organized at Agartala Press Club on Saturday (27th April, 2024). In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, Labour Minister Tinku Roy has inaugurated Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony by lighting the lamp.
LIke every year, this year also, the players are awarded by Tripura Sports Journalists Club to encourage and inspire the players. All appreciated the long standing initiative of Tripura Sports Journalists Club, especially for encouraging and motivating the players. The State’s Player of the Year and Emerging Player of the Year were presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in a grand ceremony at the Agartala Press Club on Saturday evening.
Educationist Abhijit Bhattacharjee (Chairman and Principal of School of Science), business icon Rupam Roy, Senior journalist Suprabhat Debnath, President of Tripura Sports Journalist Club Saryu Chakraborty and many other dignitaries were present in the event.
The Life Time Achievement Award has been given to the State’s first Arjuna awardee for Gymnast Mantu Debnath. Gymnasts Dipa Karmakar, Sriparna Debnath, Cricketers Manishankar Murasingh and Angel Paul, Footballers John Jamatia, Chess player Arshia Das, Aradhya Das, Judoka Tania Das, Yoga players Debarpan Kundu and Payel Das, Swimming Binit Roy and Samir Barman were also felicitated as the best and emerging players of the year. Chief Guest Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Tinku Roy and the guests distributed the prizes to the players of different categories on the occasion.
State’s first Arjuna gymnast Montu Debnath and eminent sports coach and organizer Bimal Kumar Roy Chowdhury in their speeches presented a brief history of Sports Journalists Club and highlighted the special role of Sports Journalists Club.
Addressing at the felicitation ceremony Youth Affairs & Sports, SW & SE Minister Tinku Roy highlighted the context of the development of State sports and expressed the hope that the department and the State Government will always be by their side in such a developmental role even after fulfilling the professional duties of sports journalists.
The efforts of Joint Convener and Vice President Anirban Deb and Executive Member Abhishek Dey deserve appreciation for making the event. Subhrajit Bhattacharjee’s role in conducting the program was undeniable.
