Dharmanagar,Tripura, 14th of August, 2026 : Police achieved another success in an anti-drug operation in Dharmanagar town. Around 17 grams of brown sugar were recovered from the Rajbari ISBT area, and one person was detained by Dharmanagar Police Station.The detained person has been identified as Uttam Kumar Nath, son of late Chittaranjan Nath.
According to police sources, he is a resident of Dainchhara area under Kanchanpur in North Tripura.According to police, acting on a tip-off, Dharmanagar Police received information about a person allegedly carrying narcotic substances in the Rajbari ISBT area. Following this, police began surveillance in the area. At around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Uttam Kumar Nath was detained while allegedly moving suspiciously with a bag.Later, a forensic team and the Deputy Collector Magistrate were informed. A search of the detained person’s bag was conducted in the presence of Deputy Collector Magistrate Dipankar Das.

During the search, police reportedly recovered several empty drug containers and approximately 17 grams of brown sugar from a pocket.The detained person was subsequently taken to Dharmanagar Police Station. Police have launched an investigation to determine where the seized narcotics came from and where they were allegedly being taken. A case has already been registered under the NDPS Act.Police are also investigating whether any other persons are involved in the alleged drug trafficking network.
