Agartala, Tripura, 13th of January, 2025 : A massive anti-drug operation is underway across the state. A large quantity of ganja, coffee syrup, intoxicating tablets, heroin have been seized. Police are conducting raids in various parts of the state and destroying cannabis plants. The accused, accomplices and drug traffickers in the related cases have been arrested. In the last three years, 1,665 cases of NDPS have been registered in various police stations in the state. 2,697 accused have been arrested in various cases. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said this in response to an attention-grabbing public interest notice brought in the first half of the Assembly session today.

Notice of MLA Nirmal Biswas and MLA Nayan Sarkar was about ‘Government’s steps to create a drug-free state’. responding to this, the Chief Minister said that in the last three years (2022-24), the state police have seized 1,54,658 kg of cannabis. 5,82,100 bottles of coffee syrup have been seized. 25,62,791 tablets have been seized. 34,97,134 grams of heroin have been seized. During this period, 2,45,91,258 ganja seedlings have been destroyed. The Chief Minister said that the market value of the seized drugs, including vehicles, is Rs 1,587 crore 47 lakh 41 thousand 762.
