Agartala, 9th of January 2024 : 9 lakh 69 thousand 950 farmers have been brought under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in the state in the financial years 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23. Aus and Aman paddy in Kharif and Boro Paddy, Potato, Cauliflower, Eggplant, Tomato and Watermelon in Rabi are covered under Bima Yojana. Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath in a reply to a question of MLA Jitendra Chowdhury during the question and answer session in the Legislative Assembly 3rd day on Tuesday (9th January, 2024).
He also added that a total of 20 crore 82 lakh 76 thousand rupees have been spent from the State Government fund in the last 3 financial years for the premium in this insurance sector. He said that farmers have to apply for compensation only due to local calamities and post-harvest damage. A total of Seven thousand fifty-one farmers applied for local calamities and post-harvest losses from FY 2020-21 to 2022-23. He said, farmers do not need to apply separate application for crop deficiency compensation.
