Dharmanagar, Tripura, 15th of June 2026 : Public frustration has been mounting for a long time over the deteriorating condition of roads in Dharmanagar town.Despite repeated reports in various media outlets and discussions on social media highlighting the poor state of the roads, residents allege that no effective measures have been taken by the local administration.

As a result, the people of the town continue to suffer daily hardships.Several important roads across the town are riddled with large potholes, damaged stretches, and poorly planned repair work, disrupting traffic movement and increasing the risk of accidents. With the onset of the monsoon season, the situation has become even more complicated. Even light rainfall causes potholes to fill with water, creating severe difficulties for pedestrians and vehicle drivers alike.
Following the announcement of the Dharmanagar by-election results, the election of Jahar Chakraborty as the new MLA with a mandate of over 18,000 votes had raised high hopes among the public. Many believed that the long-standing administrative shortcomings would be addressed and that a new momentum for the town’s development would emerge.
However, with several months having passed without any visible changes, voices of disappointment are now being heard in various sections of the local community.Local residents allege that no clear initiative or roadmap has yet been presented regarding road repairs, one of the town’s major problems. At the same time, allegations have surfaced that leaders of the BJP at various levels have not been sufficiently active on the issue in the public sphere.According to a section of political observers, factionalism and internal differences continue to persist prominently in Dharmanagar, causing important public issues to be neglected.
Sources claim that many leaders remain occupied with managing internal party dynamics, leaving the concerns of ordinary citizens unattended. Meanwhile, although the new MLA has been seen attending various felicitation ceremonies and inauguration events, a section of local residents claims that he has yet to take a vocal stand on the deteriorating roads and other civic issues facing the town. Consequently, questions are increasingly being raised regarding the role of both elected representatives and the administration.
Despite the disappointment, the people of Dharmanagar continue to look for a ray of hope. They believe that one day the town will overcome years of neglect and move forward on the path of development. Until then, the residents of Dharmanagar wait in anticipation for better days ahead.
