Agartala, Tripura, 15th of July 2025 : The State Government is working towards building a “Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura” by implementing development programs and strengthening harmony among the tribal communities of the state. The holistic development of the tribal population remains a key objective of the current government. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated this while inaugurating the west Tripura district-level Awareness and Assistance Camp under the Dharti Aba Janbhagidari Abhiyan in Belbari, Jirania, as part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh. The event was organized at the Belbari Gobinda Community Hall on Monday (14th July 2025). During the event, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries handed over cheques worth 255 lakh to different self-help groups and beneficiaries. Additionally, items such as power tillers, ice boxes, three-wheelers, paddy wheelers, Ayushman cards, and ST cards were formally distributed under various departmental schemes related to agriculture, fisheries, and animal husbandry. In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted the joint efforts of the state and central governments to implement several schemes in tribal-dominated areas aimed at infrastructural development and making tribal communities self-reliant. He mentioned that the Dharti Aba Tribal Village Excellence Campaign has been initiated for the upliftment of tribal villages. The program is being implemented in 392 tribal-dominated villages across the state. Through the Department of Tribal Welfare, the government plans to construct 20 new hostels, 2 multipurpose marketing centres, 16 residential hostels, and 9 Forest Rights Cells at a cost of 281.69 crore. Additionally: 14.28 crore will be spent on building 119 Anganwadi centres, 21.12 crore for fish farming in 28 hectares of water bodies in tribal areas, 242.37 crore for electrifying 7,677 families and 512 locations. Twenty-eight mobile units have already been operationalized.

The Chief Minister also spoke about initiatives regarding drinking water connections, employment opportunities, fund allocations for ADC areas, and the promotion of tribal culture. He emphasized the government’s strict steps toward building a drug-free Tripura and preventing child marriage. He urged people from all sections of society to come forward to support these causes, aiming to create a Tripura free of drugs and HIV.

Addressing at the event, Minister of Social Welfare and Social Education Tinku Roy said that this campaign is delivering various government benefits directly to the households of tribal communities. Minister of Tribal Welfare Bikash Debbarma, also present there, highlighted that 21 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have been established since 2018 for the education of tribal students. He reiterated the government’s firm commitment to ensuring the true development of the tribal people through action. The camp, organized by the West Tripura District Administration, was attended by: Dr. Vishal Kumar, District Magistrate of West Tripura, Sashi Kumar, Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department, Kiran Kumar K, SP of West Tripura District, Raken Debbarma, Chairman of Belbari BAC, Social worker Bipin Debbarma, among others. The welcome address was delivered by Bishwajit Shil, acting Sabhadhipati of the West Tripura Zilla Parishad.

At the camp, 28 departmental service stalls were set up. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries visited these stalls. During the event, the following services were provided 469 Aadhaar services, 367 Ayushman Bharat card registrations, 411 caste certificates, 117 Kisan Credit Cards,58 pension scheme enrolments, 185 enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 107 under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, 93 under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, 84 under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, 108 under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, 266 under Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, 384 applications for ration cards. Additionally, 654 individuals underwent sickle cell testing by the Health Department, and 237 people received healthcare services under the Poshan Vatika project.
