Agartala, Tripura, 17th of July 2025 : With the initiative of the West Tripura Zilla Parishad awareness campaign on Neshamukta Bharat Abhiyan and Child Marriage has been Gandhigram H. S. ( +2) School, Bamutia R. D. Block, Agartala, Tripura on Thursday (17th July, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the awareness campaign on Neshamukta Bharat Abhiyan and Child Marriage Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that People from all sections of society must come forward against social ills like drug addiction and child marriage. The State Government is working to raise awareness among the common people to prevent such social problems and to build a healthy and beautiful society. At the event, the Chief Minister and other guests presented awards and certificates to the 6 students who stood first, second and third in the slogan writing and drawing competition on prevention of illegal drugs and child marriage. In addition, the guests presented awards and certificates to the 6 students who achieved the best results in the West District in the T.B.S.E. and CBSE board examinations and loan cheques of Rs. 12 lakh to 4 self-help groups in the district.

“The human resources of the society are being wasted due to drug addiction. Some unscrupulous people are still trying to smuggle drugs through Tripura due to their addiction to earn illegal money. Currently, the Government is taking strict action against them. No one involved in this illegal drug business will be spared. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is following a zero tolerance policy against illegal drug trafficking to keep the society healthy and strong. The State Government is also working on a zero tolerance policy against illegal drug trafficking. Due to the Government’s zero tolerance policy against illegal drug trafficking, the number of drug seizures and arrests of traffickers has increased in the state. The Chief Minister said that students and youth should be aware of the prevention of drug abuse, child marriage and AIDS from now on. Teachers and parents of students should organize awareness sessions in schools on the harmful aspects of drug abuse, child marriage and AIDS. Parents concerns about their children’s behavior should be controlled”, Chief Minister added.

Highlighting the occasion, the Chief Minister remarked that the State Government is working with responsibility for the welfare of students and the youth. The State Government is also thinking of including awareness topics to prevent child marriage in the school curriculum. It is not enough for students to just do well in their studies and get good jobs. There should be responsibility towards the society. One should become a good person by acquiring real knowledge. One should come forward to transform the society into a beautiful and fair society by acquiring real knowledge during the student period. The Chief Minister urged everyone to organize awareness programs in every neighborhood to prevent drug use, child marriage, AIDS, and TB and turn it into a movement.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Vice–Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Swami Budhirupanandaji Maharaj, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and MLA Dipak Majumder, The chairperson of the womens commission Jharna Debbarma, Bamutia Panchayat Samiti Chairman Dipak Kumar Sinha, Tripura Commission For Protection Of Child Rights. Chairperson. Jayanti Deb Barma, former MLA Krishadhan Das, Sabhadhipati of the West Tripura Zilla Parishad Bishwajit Shil, West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar, West District Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar, and many other dignitaries were present in the event.
