Mumbai, Maharashtra, 19th of August, 2026 : Recognising the growing importance of Indian travellers in global tourism, Malaysia is stepping up its tourism promotion efforts. The ‘Visit Malaysia 2026’ campaign has now been extended through 2027. As part of this initiative, the ‘Sales Mission Series 2’ is being organised from August 12 to 20 across Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi.

Led by Mohammad Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, and organised in collaboration with Batik Air, the roadshow features participation from 47 Malaysian tourism stakeholders. More than 190 direct flights per week between India and Malaysia provide a capacity of over 37,000 passengers.

Malaysia is now looking to encourage Indian travellers to explore destinations beyond Kuala Lumpur. Langkawi, Penang, Sarawak, Johor and Sabah offer Indian tourists a wider range of experiences, including adventure, culture, shopping and destination weddings.

Following the introduction of visa-free entry in December 2023, more than 1.5 million Indian tourists visited Malaysia in 2025. “India is now among our top five international tourism markets, and our goal is to further strengthen this momentum.”

To build on this growth, Malaysia is also introducing attractive and specially curated travel packages for Indian travellers, aimed at encouraging them to discover the country’s diverse destinations and experiences.
