With the initiative of Tripura Working Journalists’ Association (TWJA) organized Voluntary Blood Donation Camp and Annual General Conference at Agartala Press Club on Saturday (12th August, 2023). Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp by lighting the lamp.
“The present State Government has been newspaper friendly since its inception and it is not just words, it is reflected again and again through actions. The sincere relationship that the Government has with the media and journalists will continue in the future”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp and Annual General Conference of Tripura Working Journalists’ Association (TWJA) today. In the event, the Chief Minister said that the media is the mirror of the society. Media is the fourth pillar of democracy. Media also plays an important role in strengthening the democratic system. Freedom of press is necessary for this, otherwise the correct information will not reach the people. The present State Government also believes in the freedom of journalists and newspapers.
The Chief Minister also added that the State Government does not look down on any media, it gives due respect to all. The Government is sincere in the welfare of journalists and media. In order to increase the standard of excellence of journalists in the state, various training arrangements are also made through the Department of Information and Culture. The chief minister said that the media has an important role in conveying the government’s development programmes and various public welfare decisions to the people. Apart from this, if the mistakes of the government are highlighted in the media, the administration is also beneficial to the government.
Secretary of Tripura Working Journalists’ Association (TWJA) Sunil Debnath delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Director of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Vice President of Tripura Working Journalists’ Association (TWJA) Asit Baran Ghosh, Journalists, and many other dignitaries were present in the programme.
