BSF TRIPURA CONTRIBUTES IN “AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV” CAMPAIGN.

BSF Tripura contributed in Countrywide Campaign “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’is an intensive ‘Janandolan’ in which small changes at the local level are being added up to significant National gains.

In a first of its kind event  under this programme a series of events were organized by 64 Bn BSF under SHQ Panisagar in the Longtharai Valley Region which included special cleanliness, beautification and plantation drive at ‘Manu Railway Station Complex’ under Block- Manu, District- Dhalai (Tripura) besides other events.

Sh. Rajiv Kumar Dua, DIG BSF SHQ Panisagar along with Sh. Rajive Bhardwaj, Commandant 64 Bn BSF, Moslem Uddin Ahmed, ADM (in the charge of DM, Dhalai), Sh. Amartya Barman, SDM, Longtharai Valley, Sh. Ratna Sadhan Neotia, SDPO, Chalengta, Sh. Kamal Debbarma, SDPO Manu, Sh. Abhijit Dey, SDFO Manu and Sh. Binoy Kishore Debbarma, DC(TPS),OffgComdt. of 08 Bn TSR, along with BSF Officials, Chairman & members of BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA), Teachers& School Children of Lambabi High School, Manu as well as elderly & local civilians enthusiastically participated in the event.

Prior to carrying out plantation, one week long cleanliness drive was carried out within Manu Railway Station Complex by 64 Bn BSF. The focus was to clean all plastic waste and garbage thereby improving hygiene and sanitation of the area. The cleanliness drive was followed by plantation as well as beautification of existing trees & shrubs growing haphazardly in the Railway Station Complex, which were pruned and given shape of ornamental trees.

On the culmination day of the events on 11th Sept’ 2021, 64 Bn BSF organized a painting competition on the environmental topic “Jhum Cultivation – An Environmental Disaster” to raise awareness among young minds of school children and local civilians.

A total of 312 saplings were planted which included ornamental Palm & Ashoka trees planted on the roadside of Railway station Gate, flowering shady saplings planted in the park and fruit bearing saplings planted in the Lambabi High School Campus.

At the end of the program, the winners of painting competition were felicitated by Shri Rajiv Kumar Dua, DIG BSF who also coined a motto “Grow with the Trees” to the children. Further, school children pledged to nurture their saplings with utmost care till they grow up into trees.

The entire event was marked with an air of festivity, exuberance, enthusiasm and awareness towards environmental protection. This philanthropic gesture by BSF Tripura through intensive ‘Cleanliness, Beautification & Plantation Drive’ conducted at public places like Railways Stations Manu has been highly appreciated by the local residents.
