Bulldozer Recovered In Dharmanagar, Stirring Controversy Over Alleged Change Of Registration Number.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 19th of September, 2026 : A controversy has erupted in Dharmanagar following the recovery of a stolen bulldozer. The actual owner has alleged that the registration number of the recovered bulldozer was changed and that an attempt was made to use it under a different identity. However, the allegations are yet to be verified, and their authenticity remains subject to investigation.The incident dates back to January 2, 2025. Abdul Quddus, son of Abdur Shahid and a resident of Kalachhara, had rented out a bulldozer registered in his name under registration number TR 02L1838 on a monthly basis to D N Construction, a contracting firm owned by contractor Dipan Nath of Rajbari Mandappara in Dharmanagar.

After several months of use, Quddus was informed on October 26 that the bulldozer had allegedly been stolen from near the residence of Parthajit Chakraborty in the Satchand–Manubazar area.On October 28, the owner lodged a General Diary (GD) at Manubazar Police Station. According to him, despite a prolonged police search and investigation, the bulldozer could not be traced. He further claimed that a conditional final report was subsequently submitted to the court.

However, Quddus continued searching for the bulldozer on his own.Finally, on Friday night, acting on information received from a confidential source, he learned that his bulldozer was allegedly parked near a soybean factory in the South Hurua area of Dharmanagar. After the information was conveyed to Dharmanagar Police Station, police assistance was sought and the bulldozer was recovered during an operation and brought to the police station.However, the recovery immediately raised new questions regarding its registration number. Quddus claims that the original registration number of his bulldozer is TR 02L1838, whereas the recovered bulldozer bears the number NL 04DA0049. He further alleged that the chassis and engine numbers do not correspond with the current registration.

According to him, the chassis and engine numbers mentioned in the documents for vehicle TR 02L1838, registered in his name, match those of the recovered bulldozer.The incident has therefore raised questions over how the registration number of the bulldozer was allegedly changed and whether the current registration is legally valid. The matter is now being sought to be investigated.The bulldozer owner has also alleged that two private vehicles belonging to contractor Dipan Nath were parked near the location from where the bulldozer was recovered on Friday night. He further claimed that the current registration number displayed on the recovered bulldozer had been registered in the name of D N Construction.

However, these allegations have also not been independently verified.Several questions have emerged from the entire incident: How did the bulldozer reach another location after it was reportedly stolen? Why was it found bearing a different registration number? And what is the relationship between the chassis and engine numbers of the recovered bulldozer and those recorded in the original registration documents?The bulldozer owner, Abdul Quddus, has demanded a police investigation into all these issues.The actual circumstances surrounding the incident and whether anyone was involved will become clear only after the investigation is completed. For now, the bulldozer owner is awaiting the outcome of the police investigation.
