Kailashahar, Tripura, 15th of January, 2025 : The Kailashahar unit of the Central Bureau of Communication, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organized a campaign on building awareness on cleanliness and protection and conservation of environment today at Bater Bazar in Samrurpar Gram Panchayat under the Chandipur RD Block. The campaign focused on various initiatives, including ‘Swachhta Hi Seva,’ ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,’ and ‘Mission Life.’

As part of the program, plantation of saplings, cleanliness, thematic seminars, and quiz competitions were organized at the Samrurpar Gram Panchayat premises and Bater Bazar. People from Samrurpar, Murticharra, and Manu Valley Gram Panchayats actively participated in these activities. The tree plantation initiative emphasized on conservation and protection of ecology and afforestation for healthy living in a friendly environment. The cleanliness drive highlighted the importance of hygiene and sanitation.

Distinguished guests at the event included Shri Shyamal Das, member of Unakoti Zilla Parishad, Shri Prasenjit Malakar, BDO of Chandipur, Shri Sandeep Kurmi, former Vice-Chairman of Chandipur Panchayat Samiti; Shri Pintu Ghosh, Social Activist, Smt. Prabha Baidya, Pradhan of Samrurpar Gram Panchayat and Smt. Manju Baidya, member of Panchayat Samiti. In their speeches, the dignitaries emphasized the significance of social development, environmental protection, and building of a drug-free society, towards which the Government has called for making the country as Nasha Mukt Bharat. The dignitaries encouraged the youth to actively participate in these initiatives of Ek Ped Maa Ki Naam, Swachhata Abhiyan and encourage and motivate others to remain abstain from drugs.

Through this program, the Central Bureau of Communication made a notable contribution to environmental conservation with the tree plantation drive and promoted hygiene awareness among the local community through the cleanliness campaign. Local residents participated in the program, highlighting the importance of more such programs in a periodical manner for social development and environmental protection.
