Agartala, Tripura, 6th of July, 2025 : With the initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at Muktadhara Auditorium, Agartala, Tripura on Sunday (6th July, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the celebration ceremony of Birth Anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad MukherjeeHon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said thatBharat Kesari Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was a politician, philosopher. He was one of the foremost politicians in opposition to partition. He sacrificed his life for the welfare of the country and its people.

Highlighting on the event, the Chief Minister remarked that the past, with a special purpose, the present generation was deprived of knowing the life philosophy of a patriot like Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. After the formation of the Government at the center under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the new generation is getting to know about the life philosophy of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. While discussing this context, the Chief Minister also shed light on the life of Pandit Deendayal Upadhayaya.

The Chief Minister said, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee wanted a self-reliant social system. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the current State Government are also working on that path. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee opposed the partition of the country, he wanted an undivided India. People have not yet forgotten the terrible picture that was created as a result of the partition. With the speed at which the present India is moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will soon be able to occupy one of the leading positions in the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards building a developed India by 2047. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s ideology is being observed in this progress of India. The Chief Minister said, it will be possible to pay true tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee only if the life and ideals of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee can be conveyed to the younger generation.
Addressing the huge gathering the Chief Minister said that on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the Information and Culture Department has decided to launch the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Excellence Award for special merit in social/national service/administrative work. In order to pay tribute to this great man, an initiative will be taken to install his portrait and enshrine his name in the Agartala Town Hall premises in the coming days.

Secretary of ICA Department Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Hon’ble MP and Tripura Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajib Bhattacharjee, Tripura State Cultural Advisory Committee Vice Chairman Subrata Chakraborty, Director of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, and many other dignitaries were present in the programme.
