Agartala, Tripura, 12th of May, 2025 : With the initiative of Health & Family Welfare Department. Government of Tripura has been conducted International Nurses Day 2025 at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala, Tripura on Monday (12th May, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

The theme for International Nurses Day 2025 is ‘Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies.’ This theme focuses on nurses’ health and well-being and highlights the critical role of a healthy nursing workforce in supporting the overall healthcare system.
Addressing the celebration ceremony of International Nurses Day Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that along with doctors, nursing officers also play an important role in providing health services in any health institution. It is through the sincere service provided by nursing officers that trust in the health system is built by the patient and his family. The Chief Minister said that nursing officers work as front runners in any health institution. They perform their duties relentlessly to make the patients healthy. The trust of the patients coming to the hospital in the health system depends on the services of nursing officers. Therefore, they should be aware that there is no deficiency in the provision of services.

“The students who have passed out from various nursing institutes of the state are working with good reputation in various health institutions in the country and abroad. In the current era of technology, nursing officers should also emphasize on modern training. The Nursing Training Institute has been converted into Agartala Government Nursing College so that the students of the state can study nursing from the state itself.”, Chief Minister added.
The Chief Minister also added that there are also private nursing institutions in various parts of the state where children of the state are getting the opportunity to study nursing. 153 nursing officers have been appointed in 2024 to provide health services in the State’s health institutions. In addition, 332 nursing officers are under the process of being appointed. In addition, training has been arranged for nursing officers on various topics such as operation theatres, emergency life support, facility-based integrated management of neonatal and childhood illnesses, etc. The Chief Minister said that the current State Government is working with emphasis on the development of the State’s health infrastructure. Plans have also been made to set up medical hubs in the state in the coming days.

At the event, 10 students from various nursing institutes who had done well in the 2023 and 2024 nursing examinations were awarded. In addition, IGM Hospital, North Tripura District Hospital, State Ayurvedic Hospital, Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital and Dhalai District Hospital were awarded for the successful implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. The Chief Minister handed over certificates to the awardees.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Kiran Gitte (IAS) Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr Anjan Das, Director of Family Welfare & Preventive Medicine, Dr. Hara Prashad Sharma Director of Medical Education, Rebecca Darlong, Registrar of Tripura Nursing Council, Arindam Deb, Vice-President of Tripura Nursing Council, and may other distinguished dignitaries were present in the event.
