Celebration of National Press Day 2024.

Agartala, Tripura, 16th of November, 2024 : With the initiative of Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Tripura celebrated National Press Day in collaboration with the Agartala Press Club at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala on Saturday (16th November, 2024). In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Tinku Roy inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the celebration of National Press Day Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, Labour Minister Tinku Roy said that as the guardian of the Constitution, the media fulfills its moral responsibility. Therefore, it is necessary to have truthful information in reporting the news. the news media fulfills the responsibility of reaching the people about any event. In this case, the reader accepts the news honestly only if it is objective and informative. At present, journalists are fulfilling their professional responsibilities by facing various challenges. The sports minister said that news media should continue to work in keeping with the current digital era. The present state government is sincere in various matters related to the interests of journalists. Various measures have been taken for the welfare of journalists including pension of 10,000 rupees, assurance of health insurance in the revised pension scheme. Allocation of money for media advertisement has also been increased manifold. The Agartala Press Club has been air-conditioned through special renovations. Approval has been given to install a lift at the Agartala Press Club.

Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Director of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, Secretary Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty. Agartala Press Club President Jayanta Bhattacharjee and many other dignitaries were present in the programme.
