Udaipur, 10th of March 2024 : With the initiative of Youth Affairs & Sports Department Government of Tripura District Sports Complex inauguration ceremony organized at Udaipur on Sunday (10th March, 2024). In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
“Sports infrastructure is being developed in the State. The Government has taken the initiative to build sports infrastructure for the development of sports field and development of sports talent”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the inauguration ceremony of District Sports Complex at Udaipur. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that sports are being encouraged to keep the youth away from drugs and addiction. Sports are of immense importance to build a drug free Tripura. Sports can protect the youth from addiction. 4 crore 80 lakh 14 thousand has been spent on the construction of this Sports Complex.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to develop better sports infrastructure in the country. He has guaranteed the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the people. The State Government is working to ensure that there is no shortage of trained coaches in football, cricket, gymnastics, athletics, hockey, swimming etc. in the state. 52 players have been given one-time financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s State Talent Search Scheme. The Chief Minister also said that the Seventh North Eastern Youth Festival was successfully concluded in the state recently. A synthetic turf football ground has been constructed at the Umakanta Mini Stadium. Similar synthetic turf football grounds have been constructed at Chandrapur, Jirania, Mohanpur and Khowai. Moreover, a youth hostel with 200 beds will be constructed in Gomati district.
Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Dr. PK Chakraborty delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Hon’ble Finance, Planning & Coordination, Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, MLA Abhishek Debroy, MLA Jitendra Majumder, District Magistrate of Gomati District Tarit Kanti Chakma, Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak and many other dignitaries were present in the programme.
