Agartala, Tripura, 1st of August 2025 : Efforts are underway not only in Agartala but also in the district and sub-divisional hospitals across the state to establish modem medical infrastructure. Kidney transplants are already being performed in the state, and steps are being taken to create the necessary infrastructure for liver and heart transplants as well. A Super Specialty Block has been built at AGMC at a cost of 250 crore. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said this while inaugurating a state-level training camp for Dental Medical Officers, Nursing Officers, and Community Health Officers at Pragna Bhavan on Thursday (31st July, 2025). The two-day training program is being organized by the Tripura Dental Association, Agartala Dental College, and IGM Hospital under the National Oral Health and National Health Mission initiatives. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also flagged off two Blood Collection Transportation Vans for Kailashahar and Bishalgarh hospitals.

Highlighting on the event, the Chief Minister remarked that compared to the past, many more students are now able to pursue studies in MBBS, Dental Science, Nursing, and other medical fields. He emphasized that doctors must be more sincere in delivering medical services to the public at referral hospitals and other facilities. To deliver improved healthcare services, doctors need to be more confident. He announced that the state government will soon introduce training programs in hospital management. Referring to the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the Chief Minister stated that nearly 13.5 lakh people in the state have benefited from the scheme so far. Under this initiative, 17 crore worth of assistance has been provided to 5.16 lakh individuals through Ayushman cards. He also informed that steps are being taken to establish a Regional Institute of Ophthalmology in Agartala for eye treatment, and 200 crore has been allocated for the Agartala Dental College. The goal is to make it the best dental college in the North-East region. The Chief Minister added that over 19,000 government jobs have already been provided in a transparent manner, and the law-and-order situation in the state has significantly improved. Tripura now ranks third among 28 states in terms of maintaining law and order.

Additional Secretary of the Health Department Rajib Datta also spoke at the event. Other dignitaries present included, Director of Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Principal of Agartala Dental College, Dr. Shalu Roy, Director of the Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Department, Dr. Anjan Das, and Joint Director of the National Health Mission, Dr. Alok Deb, who delivered the welcome address.
