Chief Minister Of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha Inaugurates Khet Bachao Abhiyan & Workshop.

Agartala, Tripura, 27th of June 2026 : With the initiative of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Government of Tripura organized ‘Khet bachao Abhiyan’ and Workshop programme at Berimura HS School Hall, Bamutia, West Tripura on Friday (26th June, 2026).

In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha was inaugurated the event.

Addressing at the event Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that development of rural areas primarily rests on agriculture. Without the development of agriculture sector, the state or the country cannot progress. Chief Minister stated this after inaugurating the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ and a daylong workshop on cultivation in natural method at the Berimura Higher Secondary School under Bamutia block in Mohanpur subdivision. The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister has taken various initiatives to increase agricultural production, and income of farmers. Resultantly the agriculture sector is showing signs of better results. He said, 60 percent work force of the country is associated with agriculture in one way or the other. We cannot think of development of the country without their development.

The Chief Minister said, uncontrolled use of chemical fertilizer is creating various problems. Soil is losing its fertility, at the same time it is having adverse impact on the harvest. Ground water is also getting polluted thereby causing harmful effect on the overall environment. Taking all this into consideration Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started Khet Bachao Abhiyan across the country from June 1 and this will continue upto June 30. The main slogan of this campaign is ‘Save the soil, save agriculture and save farmers’

The Chief Minister added, the benefits of Kishan Credit Card, Soil Health Card, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kishan Samman Nidhi etc. schemes are reaching upto the farmers through the agriculture and farmers’ welfare department. More public awareness is generated about these schemes, more the farmers will benefit out of it. All these schemes will play a vital role in the making of Viksit Bharat by the year 2047 as envisioned by the Prime Minister. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the farmers will benefit further by using advanced quality seeds. The government has put utmost emphasis on the agriculture sector. At the same time nowadays flower cultivation is being widely practiced by the people of the state.

Welcome address was delivered by the deputy director of West district agriculture office Sanjib Debbarma Chairman of Bamutia Panchayat Samiti Deepak Kumar Sinha presided over the programme. Other dignitaries present at the programme were acting Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zila Parishad Biswajit Shil, MLA Nayan Sarkar, former minister Prakash Das, former MLA Krishnadhan Das, ICAR IMC member Pradip Baran Roy. At the event Chief Minister handed over Soil Health Cards, saplings of different fruits and agri-equipment to the beneficiaries.
