Agartala, Tripura, 22nd of September 2025 : Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the people of the state.
He also sincerely thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for highlighting the Tripura Sundari Temple on the world map.
The much-awaited Tripura Sundari Temple Development Project was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
At 3 pm, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Tripura Sundari Temple Development Project through a formal puja at the Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and other guests were present at the event.
Dr. Saha extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of the state and also sincerely thanked him for highlighting the Tripura Sundari Temple on the world stage.
The Chief Minister said that today is a milestone in the history of the state.
“As a result, many tourists from home and abroad will come to the Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the state’s prominent religious tourism centers,” he said.
Despite his busy schedule, the arrival of the Prime Minister reflected the sincerity, trust, and faith of the people of the state.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to the Union Ministry of Tourism.
He said that the Central Government has allocated Rs. 34.43 crore for various development projects of the Tripura Sundari Temple under the PRASAD Scheme. In addition, Rs. 17.61 crore has been allocated by the State Government.
In line with his commitment to promote and preserve the spiritual and cultural heritage of India, Prime Minister inaugurated the development work of ‘Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex’ at Matabari under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme. It is one of the ancient 51 Shakti Peethas located in Udaipur town of Gomati district in Tripura.
The project, given the shape of tortoise view from above, includes modifications in the temple premises, new pathways, renovated entrances and fencing, drainage system, a new three-storied complex consisting of stalls, meditation hall, guest accommodations, office rooms, among others. It will play a significant role in boosting tourism, creating employment and business opportunities and leading to overall socio-economic development of the region.
The enthusiasm among the people of the state was noticeable around this inauguration.
Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were, Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Hon’ble MP and Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Hon’ble MP and Tripura Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajib Bhattacharjee, Hon’ble Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Hon’ble Finance, Planning & Coordination, Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Hon’ble Food, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das, Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, other cabinet ministers, MLAs, senior officials, and many other dignitaries were present at the event.
