Agartala, Tripura, 16th June, 2025 : Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired the annual meeting of the Employment Guarantee Council for the financial year 2025–26, under the Department of Rural Development of the State Government at Agartala, Tripura on Monday (16th June, 2025).
“The main goal of the State Government is to accelerate the development of the people living in the marginal areas of the state. Specific plans must be worked on to bring the benefits of development projects to the people of the marginal areas of the state. The government is determined to ensure the socio-economic development of the people, including infrastructure development, road connectivity in the marginal areas”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the the annual meeting of the Employment Guarantee Council for the financial year 2025–26, under the Department of Rural Development of the State Government.
The Chief Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) are very important in the development of rural economy. Because most of the State is rural areas. The State Government is working with emphasis on creating permanent assets for the development of rural areas. Therefore, it is necessary to work with the public representatives of the concerned areas, including the District Magistrate, Community Development Officer, and other officials at various levels, in constant coordination to implement the development program. He said, if any problem arises in the implementation of the development program, it should be brought to the notice of the public representatives and initiatives should be taken to resolve it.
In the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Rural Development Department, Kuntal Das, presented a detailed illustrated report on the success of the work in the State in the financial year 2024-25 and the future work plan. Necessary initiatives have been taken by the Rural Development Department to include pineapple cultivation in the State in the list of approved works of the Union Ministry of Rural Development. The Additional Secretary also informed the meeting about the approved labour budget and proposed works for the current financial year. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there Hon’ble Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Hon’ble Finance Minister Pranjit Singha Roy, Hon’ble Forest, Science & Technology Minister Animesh Debbarma, MLA Kishore Barman, MLA Antara Sarkar Deb, MLA Swapna Majumdar, MLA Shambhu Lal Chakma Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Secretary of Rural Development Department Abhishek Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. PK Chakraborty, secretaries of various departments, CEO of TTAADC and District Magistrates of 8 districts of the state were present and participated in the discussion.
“Today chaired the annual meeting of the Employment Guarantee Council for the financial year 2025–26, under the Department of Rural Development of the State Government.
