Dharmanagar, Tripura, 30th of May 2026 : The 57th Foundation Day of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) was observed with due dignity and enthusiasm across Dharmanagar Sub-Division in North Tripura on Saturday. The day was marked by flag hoisting ceremonies and various programmes held in different parts of the sub-division.
The celebrations began at 8:00 AM with the simultaneous hoisting of the organisation’s flag in all 14 zones of Dharmanagar Sub-Division. At 10:00 AM, the main flag was hoisted at the Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional office by CITU State Vice-President Amitabh Dutta.
A colourful cultural programme was organised at 11:00 AM to mark the occasion, featuring performances by local artists as well as members and supporters of the organisation. At 1:00 PM, a special discussion meeting was held at the sub-divisional office. The meeting was presided over by Niranjan Debnath, President of CITU Dharmanagar Sub-Division Committee. Among those present were Sub- Divisional Secretary Jahurul Haque and State Vice-President Amitabh Dutta.
Addressing the gathering, Amitabh Dutta said that since its inception, CITU has been consistently fighting for the rights of workers and the toiling masses while opposing exploitation and deprivation. He stressed the need for united movements against various attempts to curtail workers’ rights in the current situation.Recalling the organisation’s 57-year-long history of struggle, he called upon workers and supporters to strengthen future movements for the protection of labour rights and the realization of workers’ legitimate demands.
