Dharmanagar, Tripura, 1st of July 2026 : Public dissatisfaction is mounting over the deteriorating condition of most roads in Dharmanagar, especially during the ongoing spell of rain. Large potholes, damaged stretches, and waterlogged roads across several key areas of the town have made daily commuting difficult for pedestrians, motorists, and local businesses.A few days ago, road repair and pothole-filling work had begun in parts of the town, including the Rajbari area, raising hopes among residents.

However, locals allege that the work came to an abrupt halt before repairs across the entire town could be completed. Residents are now questioning why the project was suspended, when the work will resume, and what the future holds for the unfinished repairs.Meanwhile, local MLA Jahar Chakraborty was recently seen inspecting an ongoing road construction project in Bhagyapur village. However, residents claim that the badly damaged roads within Dharmanagar town have yet to receive similar attention. Many argue that while rural development is important, urban residents deserve equal priority, as the present condition of the town’s roads has made everyday life increasingly difficult.
According to local residents, thousands of people use these roads every day. The growing number of potholes has increased the risk of accidents, particularly during the monsoon, when waterlogging makes it impossible to identify dangerous sections of the road.Concerned citizens have appealed to MLA Jahar Chakraborty to intervene without delay. They have demanded a clear explanation for why the repair work was halted midway and urged the authorities to immediately resume and complete the repair of all damaged roads within the stipulated timeframe. They believe that the poor condition of the main roads in a district headquarters is unacceptable and requires urgent attention.
