Closing Ceremony Alpana And Pithe-Puli Festival At Alpana Village.

Agartala, Tripura, 15th of January, 2026 : With The Initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura the three-day Alpana and Pithe-puli festival was held in Lankamura’s Alpana village amid great joy and enthusiasm from people of both urban and rural areas. The last day marked the conclusion of the festival. In addition to numerous visitors from Agartala city and its suburbs, enthusiastic attendees came from various parts of the state and even from outside the state to see the village.

The village was beautifully decorated with colorful alpana designs by local residents along with artists from Prasar Bharati. There were self-initiated stalls offering a variety of pithe-puli (traditional sweets), dolls, cottage craft items, vegetables, and other foods. Excited visitors explored the stalls, admired the displays, and made purchases.”

On the concluding evening of the festival, in his address as the chief guest, West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil, highly praised the efforts of the organizers. He said that the state government has taken initiatives to revive rural and traditional culture. The message of this Alpana and Pithe-puli festival has now reached across the state, other states, and even abroad.

He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has undertaken efforts to build a self-reliant India. He further stated that through this festival, the economic foundation of the members of self-help groups will be strengthened.”

Addressing the participants as a special guest, Hon’ble Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Manika Das Datta,  said that the main purpose of organizing the Alpana and Pithe-puli festival is to preserve ancient culture. She stated that the current government has taken initiatives to promote and spread art and culture.

According to sources, at the event, 86 artists trained by Prasar Bharati were awarded certificates for their achievements in dance, music, recitation, and drama. In addition, 19 trainers were also honored with certificates. The guests presented trophies to the five best-decorated houses in alpana drawing. A vibrant cultural programme was organized, during which the Prasar Bharati-trained artists staged the drama ‘Amulya Sampad’.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were  Agartala Municipal Corporation corporator Mitrarani Das Majumder, West District Inspector of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, Dipak Lal Saha, among others. The programme was presided over by Subal Biswas, President of Sanskar Bharati (Tripura Prant).
