Closing Ceremony Of 44th Agartala Book Fair 2026.

Agartala, Tripura, 14th of January, 2026 : With The Initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura 44th Agartala Book Fair 2026 was organized at the International Fair Ground, Hapania on Friday (2nd January, 2026). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha was inaugurated the 44th Agartala Book Fair 2026.

The thirteen days long 44th Agartala Book Fair 2026 concluded on Wednesday (14th January, 2026).

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were, Hon’ble Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, Secretary of Information & Cultural Affairs Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee and many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the closing ceremony.

Addressing at the closing ceremony of 44th Agartala Book Fair 2026, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya stage, the chief guest,Hon’ble Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that  with the expectation of organizing the Agartala Book Fair on an even larger scale next year, the 44th Agartala Book Fair concluded today at the Hapania International Fair Ground. He said that after the new Government was formed in the state in 2018, the book fair has been organized afresh with a liberal outlook. He added that books are a treasure trove of knowledge and that nothing can be comparable to books.

Highlighting the Agartala Book Fair, Tourism Minister remarked that in the coming days, if more school and college students can be involved with the book fair, the new generation will benefit greatly. In this context, he also highlighted the importance of organizing district-level book fairs. He further remarked that the area of Agartala city is expanding and that the city has become much more modern than before. Therefore, keeping pace with the times, the book fair has been organized at the Hapania International Fair Ground. He expressed hope that just as book lovers of the state participated enthusiastically in the book fair this time, they would take part in even greater numbers in the future.

The honored guest at the closing ceremony, Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, said that books show the way to our society and open the doors of knowledge for students. He described the book fair as a source of creative inspiration for authors and a platform for publication for publishers. He said that the Agartala Book Fair has already secured its place among the country’s leading book fairs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Higher Education Minister state that due to a lack of willpower of the previous government, the book fair had been rendered insignificant, whereas the present government has given the highest priority to the book fair as part of its cultural programs. He added that the central theme of this year’s book fair was “Vande Mataram,” which signifies unity, the future of the coming generations, and love for the motherland. “Vande Mataram,” he said, is a declaration of the nation’s identity. He expressed hope that inspired by the spirit of Vande Mataram, a new India will move forward.

Secretary of Information & Cultural Affairs Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty delivered a welcome address at the closing ceremony of the 44th Agartala Book Fair-2026. He said that the Agartala Book Fair has also secured a place among the country’s leading book fairs. This year, 183 stalls were set up at the book fair. Up to yesterday, books worth nearly ₹1.5 crore had been sold at the fair. Last year, books worth ₹1.53 crore were sold.

Addresses were delivered by eminent writer Dr. Ashok Sinha, eminent writer Dr. Atul Debbarma, Secretary of the Tripura Publishers’ Guild Ajit Debbarma, Secretary of the All Tripura Book Sellers and Publishers Association Uttam Chakraborty and Secretary of the Publishers and Booksellers Association Rakhal Majumder. The programme was presided over and addressed by Tripura State Cultural Advisory Committee Vice Chairman Subrata Chakraborty.

Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries participants there were, Hon’ble Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Manika Das Datta, Dukli Panchayat Samiti Chairman Bhulan Saha and many others remained present in the event. The guests handed over the awards to the winners at the ceremony.
