Agartala, 20th of July, 2024 : Today, (20th July, 2024) was the closing ceremony of the traditional Kharchi Puja. Kharchi Puja is a festival where the 14 Gods that comprise the dynastic deity. The rituals are observed for a whole week in the temple dedicated to the 14 Gods at Old Agartala. The celebrations last for seven days and people from all communities participate in the festival. The 14 Gods are Shiva, Durga, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Vani or Saraswati, Kumar or Kartikeya, Ganapa or Ganesha, Brahma, Prithivi, Abdhi or Samudra, Ganga, Sikhi or Agni, Kamadeva and Himadri.
“Kharchi Puja festival is a universal festival of Tripura. Kharchi Puja starts every year on “Shukla Ashtami Tithi” of Bengali Aashar month. The fourteenth deity temple became the center of this puja and became a pilgrimage site of harmony.”, Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said at the closing ceremony of the traditional Kharchi Puja. The agriculture minister also said that the premises of the fourteenth deity temple of old Agartala. Rural arts and culture developed around Kharchi Puja festivals and exhibitions.
In today’s closing ceremony the traditional Kharchi Puja apart from the Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister, MLA Ratan Chakraborty and many other dignitaries were present in the closing ceremony. On the occasion, the winners of the drawing competition organized of Kharchi Puja festival were awarded.
