Agartala, Tripura, 9th of August, 2026 : Former MLA and veteran CPI(M) leader Gouri Bhattacharjee was passed away on Saturday (8th August, 2026).
Former MLA and veteran CPI(M) leader Gouri Bhattacharjee passed away at the age of 92. She had been suffering from age-related health complications.
Her demise has cast a shadow of mourning among members of the CPI(M) and people associated with the Left movement. Senior CPI(M) leaders, party workers, and well-wishers gathered at the CPI(M) State Office to pay their last respects to the departed leader. Party leaders recalled her contribution to the organization and her role in public life, remembering her as a committed political worker who remained associated with the principles and ideology of the Left movement.
Former chief minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar, CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury, senior leaders and activists paid last tribute to former MLA and veteran CPI(M) leader Gouri Bhattacharjee .
The party leadership expressed deep sorrow at the loss and said that the passing of Gouri Bhattacharjee is a significant loss for the CPI(M) and the wider Left movement. Her contribution and political journey are expected to remain a part of the party’s organizational history.
