Dharmanagar, Tripura, 26th of June 2026 : The North Tripura District Kisan Congress on Thursday (25th June, 2026) submitted a deputation to North Tripura District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, highlighting several issues concerning the welfare of farmers.

Led by District Kisan Congress President Moinul Haque, the delegation demanded timely procurement of paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), an end to political influence and favoritism in the paddy procurement process, immediate repair of Lift Irrigation (LI) schemes to improve irrigation facilities, and adequate compensation for farmers affected by recent heavy rainfall.The deputation was attended by former District Congress President Digbijay Chakraborty, current District Congress President Nirupam Deb, PCC leader Kebalkanti Nandy, along with several other party leaders and workers.
Interacted with the media, the leaders stated that farmers are currently facing numerous challenges. In particular, delays and irregularities in paddy procurement and the poor condition of irrigation infrastructure are severely affecting agricultural activities. They also urged the administration to provide prompt financial assistance to farmers who have suffered losses due to excessive rainfall.After submitting the memorandum, the Congress leaders expressed hope that the administration would take swift and necessary steps to address the farmers’ concerns and safeguard their interests.
