District Conference And Blood Donation Camp Of The Tripura Working Journalists Association Held In Dharmanagar.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 11th of May 2026 : To strengthen unity among media professionals and spread the message of social responsibility, the undivided North Tripura District Conference and voluntary blood donation camp of the Tripura Working Journalists Association was held on Sunday (10th May, 2026) at the Ardhendu Bhattacharjee Smriti Bhavan in Dharmanagar. The event created a festive atmosphere among journalists, with media persons from different parts of the district participating enthusiastically.The program began with the guests being welcomed with bouquets and traditional uttariyas. At around 12 noon, newly elected MLA of Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency, Jahar Chakraborty, formally inaugurated the conference by lighting the ceremonial lamp and watering a sapling.

The keynote speaker of the conference was Bijoy Pal, President of the Association. Special guests included General Secretary Sunil Debnath, State Committee Member Buddha Bhushan Deb Sarkar, and Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Committee Secretary Rupak Debnath, along with several other dignitaries. Journalists from Kailashahar and Dharmanagar also attended the event.

During the program, Dr. Souvik Das and young teacher Debashish Das were felicitated for their notable contributions to social service and humanitarian work.One of the major attractions of the conference was the voluntary blood donation camp. Guests highly praised the initiative taken by journalists to help address the shortage of blood in the state. Around 20 donors voluntarily donated blood during the camp.

The organizers stated that similar welfare-oriented initiatives would continue in the future.In the second session of the conference, detailed discussions were held regarding organizational matters. Following a long-standing demand, a decision was taken to form separate district committees for North Tripura and Unakoti districts.In the newly formed North Tripura District Committee, Swapan Das was appointed President, Rupak Debnath as Secretary, Abdul Hannan as Vice-President, Rajkumar Das as Assistant Secretary, and Uttam Debnath as Treasurer. The committee was formed with a total of 11 members. Association leaders expressed hope that the new committee would work actively for the welfare and protection of journalists’ interests.

Similarly, in the Unakoti District Committee, Anupam Pal was appointed President, Abdul Munim as Secretary, Charu Krishna Kar as Vice-President, Abdul Jalil as Assistant Secretary, and Bhaskar Ghosh Adhikari as Treasurer. This committee was also formed with 11 members.Speakers at the conference emphasized that in the present time, professional security, unity, and social responsibility among journalists are more important than ever. They expressed confidence that the newly formed district committees would play a significant role in protecting journalists’ rights and contributing to the development of society.
