Khowai, Tripura, 1st of January, 2025 : An alleged drunk driver smashed into a home, three members of a family narrowly escaped death after being hit by a speeding Maruti car. The incident took place around 12 am on Tuesday. Drunk driver Litan Gope, while driving recklessly in BPC Para, Khowai Town lost control of a Maruti Suzuki car and crashed into Mithun Sutradhar’s house, breaking the inside the house. At that time, everyone in the house was in a kind of sleep. Mithun’s family, who was sleeping, escaped unharmed. According to the locals the driver was drunk. He is a well-known drug dealer in Khowai town. Immediately after the incident, people from the area came out. The police arrested the car and the driver, Litan, and took him to the police station.
As per the public sources, driver, Litan Gop (28), is involved in the drug trade. Litan has been caught by the police several times. It is said that the family suffered a loss of more than one lakh in the car accident. OC of Khowai Police Station Subir Malakar said that after receiving information, the police went to the spot that night and arrested the car and driver Litan and brought them to the police station. However, as no case was registered, the driver and the car were released after being fined on Wednesday.
