Due To Clashes In The College, The College Students Blocked The Road In Khowai.

Khowai, 11th of January 2024 : Due to clashes in the Khowai’s Dasaratha Deb Memorial College, the college students have staged road blockade at Belfang-Bachaibari market area on Khowai-Agartala Road on Thursday (11th January, 2024). The road was blocked from 7:00am in the morning and the blockade until 2:00pm in the afternoon. Due to road blockade for about eight hours, some people are mentally and financially affected. As a result of this road blockade movement, all vehicles coming from Kamalpur, Kailashahar had to return back from Bachaibari along with passengers. No vehicles went to Agartala from Khowai town.

As per the report, On January 6, a clash broke out in Khowai College over cheating, sitting in the exam hall and taking the exam without obeying the rules. Several students including Litan Debbarma were injured in this clash. Later, the affected students a written complaint with the Khowai police station. After filing a written complaint the OC of Khowai police station was told Sir we will settle it. Don’t take the case now. Yesterday on January 10th, when parents came to Khowai College on behalf of the affected students, the ruling party student alleged that the parents were insulted. Also did not get any kind of consolation or support from the college authorities. After this incident, the Khowai police station took up a case based on the written complaint and arrested the two students on the written complaint. The road blockade movement started today from seven in the morning to protest the attack and to demand fair trial and to fulfill the promises that there will be no more attacks in the future. After a long discussion between the two, the road blockade was withdraw after a long eight hours at around 2.30 pm after a promise was made by the ruling party students and the college administration.
