Empowering Rural Women Through Skills: Mord Joint Secretary Reviews Training Initiatives At RUDSETI Agartala.

Agartala, Tripura, 25th of September, 2026 : Agartala, September 24: Ms. Tanuja Thakur Khalko, Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, visited RUDSETI Agartala and reviewed the institute’s ongoing initiatives aimed at empowering rural women through skill development and sustainable self-employment opportunities.

During her visit, Ms. Khalko observed the ongoing Women’s Tailoring Training Programme and interacted with the participating trainees to understand their learning experiences, skills acquired and aspirations for establishing sustainable livelihood opportunities. She appreciated the efforts being undertaken by RUDSETI Agartala to equip rural women with practical skills and encouraged continued focus on quality, relevance and practical orientation of training programmes so that trainees can effectively transform their skills into viable self-employment opportunities.

Sri Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, TRLM, Sri Suvabrata Bhattacharjee, Additional CEO, TRLM, and Sri Suman Kumar Paul, Senior Manager, Canara Bank, were present during the visit. Sri Siddhartha Khan, Director, RUDSETI Agartala, along with the RUDSETI team, welcomed the dignitaries and briefed them on the institute’s various training programmes, facilities and initiatives aimed at developing practical skills and entrepreneurial capabilities among rural communities. Ms. Rashmi Baidya, Senior Faculty, RUDSETI Agartala, felicitated the visiting dignitaries, while Faculty Member Sri Hopreng Debbarma and other officials extended their support in facilitating the visit.

The visit highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among the Ministry of Rural Development, TRLM, banking institutions and RUDSETI in strengthening rural skill development and entrepreneurship. The interaction also underscored the role of women-centric training programmes in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and promoting greater economic self-reliance among rural women.
