Agartala, Tripura, 9th of April, 2026 : The Mailangsing Producer Group (PG) from Kailangsing Village Committee under Dumburnagar RD Block has emerged as a remarkable example of how collective farming can transform the economic prospects of rural tribal women. Formed under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Tribal Welfare Department, the group reflects the strength of teamwork, dedication, and organized agricultural practices.

Comprising motivated tribal women farmers, the Mailangsing PG has been actively engaged in collective cultivation with the aim of improving livelihood opportunities and strengthening household income. With continuous guidance and technical support from the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and the Directorate of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, the group adopted improved crop management practices, proper field preparation, and scientific cultivation methods.
One of the most inspiring achievements of the group has been their successful cultivation and harvesting of ginger. Through collective effort and proper crop management, the members harvested 2500 kg of ginger, which was sold in the market at a rate of ₹100 per kilogram. This successful production and marketing of ginger resulted in encouraging income for the members and marked an important milestone in their agricultural journey.

The accomplishment not only reflects the dedication and hard work of the tribal women farmers but also highlights the effectiveness of collective farming and proper market linkage. The success of ginger cultivation has become a source of inspiration for other farmers in the surrounding villages to adopt improved agricultural practices and diversify crop production.
The Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare played a crucial role in this achievement by providing technical guidance, field-level support, and awareness on improved cultivation practices, which helped the group enhance productivity and ensure better crop quality.

Beyond economic benefits, the success of Mailangsing Producer Group represents the growing economic empowerment of tribal women. Their participation in group-based farming has strengthened their confidence, improved their role in household decision-making, and created sustainable livelihood opportunities within the community.
Today, the Mailangsing Producer Group stands as a shining example of how coordinated institutional support, scientific agriculture, and the determination of tribal women can contribute to rural economic development. Their inspiring success in ginger cultivation under the TRESP initiative demonstrates the strong potential of producer groups in building sustainable and inclusive growth in rural Tripura.
