Agartala, Tripura, 31st of July, 2025 : To ensure quality formation of Producer Groups (PGs) and improved agricultural outcomes, the Agriculture Department of Tripura has significantly enhanced coordination with the TRESP implementation teams. Through increased field visits, direct interactions, and regular review meetings, the department is actively contributing to the strengthening of the project’s grassroots execution.

On 31st July 2025, Sri Subrata Shib, Agriculture Specialist under TRESP, joined the 5th session of the Farmer Field School (FFS) held at Kwtal PG under Maharanipur VC, Mungiakami Block. He was accompanied by Dr. S.P. Majumder, Senior Consultant, TSA-Agri-Horti (AFC), who provided technical insights and field-level guidance.

The session involved detailed interactions with PG members, focusing on key themes such as crop management, marketing strategies, yield improvement, and agricultural planning. It was observed that, alongside chilli, members have also taken up brinjal cultivation, with harvesting ongoing for both crops.
Following the FFS, a focused training session was conducted with Jora PG and Salswkang PG, where good agricultural practices were shared and explained in simple terms. The members responded with enthusiasm, expressing plans to start bottle gourd cultivation in the first week of August.

The success of these engagements was made possible by the committed efforts of the TRESP field team of Mungiakami Block, especially Ms. Purba Deb (BPM), Mr. Baptosh Debbarma (CC-Agri), and Mr. Rahul Das, TSA Field Expert.
In a significant move, Agriculture Department officials are now prioritizing field-level monitoring and mentoring, working closely with TRESP block teams to ensure quality PG formation and better implementation outcomes.

Under the leadership of Dr. P.B. Jamatia, Director of Agriculture, departmental staff are being continuously encouraged to engage directly with PGs, offer timely support, and contribute meaningfully to the success of the TRESP initiative.

This enhanced coordination between the Agriculture Department and TRESP teams is proving instrumental in driving the project forward with stronger grassroots impact and better institutional convergence.
