Agartala, Tripura, 24th of September, 2026 : Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festival, the festival grant is being increased by 300. This will benefit 1,48,501 regular and contractual government employees of the state, along with 85,916 pensioners and family pension recipients. This increase in festival grant will cost the state government an additional 6.14 crore. This was announced by Hon’ble Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy at a press conference held today at the Secretariat press conference hall.
At the press conference, the Finance Minister said that with this increase, the festival grant for Group-C and Group-D employees, pensioners and family pension recipients, priests of various government-run temples, and DRW workers approved by the Finance Department will rise from 2,100 to 2,400. For PTW, casual workers, contractual workers, Anganwadi workers and helpers, home guards, SPOs, and daily-wage workers employed in various departments, the festival grant has been increased from 12,310 to 12,610. Additionally, the festival grant for part-time pump operators under the Drinking Water & Sanitation and Rural Development (Panchayat) departments has been increased from 1,050 to 1,350. The Finance Minister said that in 2017-18, this festival grant amounted to just 1700.
The Finance Minister further stated at the press conference that although the festival grant has been increased, the festival advance for government employees has been kept unchanged. He said the state government will spend approximately 183.77 crore on this festival advance as well. He noted that government employees of various religions and communities can apply for this festival advance not only for Durga Puja but also for Christmas, Garia Puja, Buddha Purnima, Eid-ul-Zuha, Bengali New Year, Eid-ul-Fitr, Guru Nanak Jayanti, and Mahavir Jayanti.
