Food, Civil Supplies Minister Of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury Launches Free Distribution Of Semolina, Flour And Sugar Through Ration Shops.

Agartala, Tripura, 24th of October, 2026 : Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury formally inaugurated a programme to distribute semolina, flour and sugar free of cost through ration shops on the occasion of Sharadotsav and Diwali.

Addressing at the launching the event Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the initiative had been undertaken to support people during the festive season and make their celebrations even more joyful. He further stated that various initiatives have been taken to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of the state’s Public Distribution System (PDS).

The Food Department is making continuous efforts to ensure the timely delivery of essential food commodities to the general public through ration shops. He stated that the State Government aims to ensure the overall development and well-being of people from all sections of society. He expressed hope that this would help realise the vision of “Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura” (One Tripura, Best Tripura).

At the event, Food Department Principal Secretary Shantanu stated that, on the occasion of Sharadotsav and Diwali festival, Antyodaya and PG ration cardholders would receive 500 grams of semolina free of cost per ration card. In addition, every ration cardholder would receive 1 kg of sugar and 2 kg of flour free of cost.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Jirania, Animesh Dhar, Ranirbazar Municipal Council Vice-Chairperson Prabir Kumar Das, Director of the Food Department Sumit Lodh, social activist Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, and others. During the event, the dignitaries handed over bags containing the aforementioned food items to 10 beneficiaries.
