Dharmanagar, Tripura, 31st of May 2026 : On the basis of secret information the Forest Department conducted a successful operation and seized a Bolero vehicle carrying a large quantity of illegally transported teak timber. The incident has created a stir in the area.

According to Forest Department sources, information was received that a Bolero vehicle was transporting illegal teak logs from the Nabinchhara area. Based on the intelligence, forest personnel set up surveillance in the Chamtilla area under Panisagar Subdivision. The suspected vehicle was later chased from Chamtilla and intercepted in the Deochhara area.
Upon searching the vehicle, officials recovered a substantial quantity of teak timber. A Forest Department official stated that the seized timber is estimated to be around 2 to 2.5 cubic units (“kam”) in volume, with an approximate market value of ₹1 lakh.Authorities have initiated legal proceedings under the Forest Act against those involved in the illegal transportation. The Forest Department also reiterated its commitment to protecting forest resources and stated that such operations will be intensified in the future to curb timber smuggling and illegal logging activities.
