Four Fishermen Drowned In Dumboor Last Night.

Amarpur, 24th of March 2024 : In a tragic accident, while fishing in Dumboor reservoir, four Fishermen have been drowned in Dumboor lake last might. As per the report, strong storm has hit their boat and over turned it. The bodies of three people were recovered by 3 pm on Sunday with the efforts of local people and firemen, but one fisherman is still missing. It is reported that around nine o’clock on Saturday night, four fishermen took the boat to Sadanand Para area of ​​Dumboor reservoir to maintain jeol fish produced in case culture. They are Hari Das (45), Pradeep Das (46), Jyotish Mallick (50) and Sanjit Nandi. Suddenly seeing the effect of the cyclone in Dumboor reservoir, the four fishermen have entered the culture room through the window and took shelter. The raging cyclone is so violent that the house built on the dump overturns in the deep water. Not seeing them at the boat dock early Sunday morning, the family members started searching. Finally people of Sadananda Para saw their boat but fishermen were missing. Fire department and Gandachhara police station were immediately informed. Local residents jumped into the water and by 9.30. Later on Haridas’ frozen body was recovered.

Firefighters tried to rescue them but  couldn’t rescue one. Anxiety and fear are increasing. The bodies of Pradeep Das and Jyotish Mallick were recovered by disaster response team members around 3 pm. But Sanjit Nandi is still missing. However, the NDRF personnel continued the search. It is known that the rescue work is being hampered due to the fishing nets of many fishermen in Case Culture at the bottom of Dumboor reservoir in Sadanand Para area. Dhalai District Magistrate, Dhalai District Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Gandatwisa are leading the search operation of this terrible disaster. Three dead bodies have been handed over to the family after post-mortem. An atmosphere of mourning has been created across the subdivision in this incident.
