Four Police Personnel Produced In Court : Teliamura Drug Trafficking Case.

Khowai, Tripura, 26th of May 2026 : Four police personnel accused in the sensational drug trafficking case under Teliamura Police Station were produced before the Khowai Court on Monday (25th May, 2026). The accused include Sub-Inspector Shampa Das, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sachin Debbarma, Inspector Ajit Debbarma, and Sub-Inspector Rajendra Reang.

According to police sources, a case was registered against the four individuals based on information received from confidential sources. Later, they were arrested in the interest of the investigation and produced before the court.

According to sources, a Tripura Police inspector, sub-inspector, and constable have been accused of striking deals with drug mafias over a major portion of seized illegal cough syrup consignments. As per the incident details, three days ago, an Eco vehicle carrying illegal Eskuf cough syrup was intercepted in the Teliamura police station area under Khowai district.

Subsequently, the vehicle along with the seized cough syrup bottles was brought to Teliamura Police Station. According to sources, after being taken to the police station, an Inspector, a Sub-Inspector, and a Constable allegedly handed over a large portion of the illegal syrup consignments to drug mafias. However, in an apparent attempt to maintain transparency, only a limited quantity of the cough syrup was reportedly presented before the media during the press briefing.

According to sources, the illegal cough syrup consignments were allegedly handed over to drug mafias the day after the seizure. Meanwhile, reports suggest that after details of the incident were leaked, senior police officials at the Khowai district level started swift taking action regarding the matter.

The Superintendent of Police Khowai District stated that the action was taken under the police department’s “zero tolerance” policy. He said that no one involved in criminal activities would be spared. Strict action would be taken against the accused if found guilty through the investigation and judicial process in accordance with the law.
