Four Women Seriously Injured As E-Rickshaw Overturns Due To Poor Road Conditions In Dharmanagar.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 23rd of August, 2026 : Four women were seriously injured after an e-rickshaw overturned due to the poor condition of a road in Dharmanagar on Sunday (23rd August, 2026). The incident has sparked fresh anger among local residents over the deteriorating condition of roads in the area.

According to reports, the e-rickshaw was travelling from Gobindapur towards Padmapur with four women and one other passenger. While passing through a damaged stretch of road, the driver reportedly lost control after the vehicle hit the uneven surface, causing the e-rickshaw to overturn. The four women sustained serious injuries in the accident and were subsequently rescued and taken to Dharmanagar District Hospital for treatment. They are currently undergoing treatment there.Local residents alleged that roads in several parts of Dharmanagar have remained in poor condition for a long time. Large potholes and damaged road surfaces have created hazardous conditions for commuters.

Although repair work was carried out at some damaged stretches recently, residents had earlier raised questions over the quality of the work. With the roads again deteriorating, public resentment has intensified.Residents claimed that despite repeated complaints regarding the condition of the roads, no effective action has been taken by the Public Works Department and the administration. They questioned whether authorities would wait for a major accident or loss of life before taking permanent measures.The public has demanded an immediate inspection of the important roads in Dharmanagar and permanent repairs to the damaged stretches. They said the prolonged deterioration of the roads has left several areas of Dharmanagar virtually without proper civic oversight.
