Agartala, Tripura, 24th of October, 2026 : The immersion of the idol of Goddess Durga at Dashami Ghat on the Haora River on Friday (23rd October, 2026). Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Hon’ble’ Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Manika Das Datta and many other distinguished dignitaries were present at the immersion (Bisharjan) of a Durga idol at Dashamighat, Battala, Agartala, Tripura on Friday (23rd October, 2026).
The immersion of Goddess Durga’s idols marked the conclusion of Durga Puja celebrations. Thousands of devotees gathered to bid farewell to the Goddess, bringing the five-day festival to a heartfelt close. The streets echoed with devotional songs, drumbeats and chants of “Asche Bochor Abar Hobe” (The Goddess will return next year).
The immersion procession turned into a grand public spectacle, with beautifully decorated idols, colourful processions and enthusiastic participation from devotees and members of various puja committees. Traditional music, cultural performances and vibrant decorations added to the festive atmosphere as the idols were carried towards designated immersion points.
Devotees offered their final prayers to Maa Durga, seeking her blessings for peace, prosperity and the well-being of their families. Many women participated in traditional farewell rituals, while others bid an emotional goodbye to the Goddess, expressing their hope for her return next year. The occasion reflected the deep-rooted religious faith, cultural heritage and community spirit associated with Durga Puja in Tripura.
The immersion ceremony brought the celebrations to a solemn yet joyful conclusion, leaving devotees with cherished memories of the festival. Despite the emotional farewell, the spirit of “Asche Bochor Abar Hobe” filled the air, as people looked forward to welcoming Maa Durga again next year with renewed devotion and enthusiasm.
