Governor Pays Tribute At Gandhi Bedi, & The Martyrs’ Pedestal At Albert Ekka Park On Independence Day.

Agartala, Tripura, 16th of August 2026 : To mark the celebration of the country’s 80th Independence Day, Hon’ble Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu today offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at various memorials in Agartala and paid deep homage to the freedom fighters and martyrs of the nation. The Governor first visited the Murti Prangan of Agartala’s Circuit House, where he paid tribute by offering flowers at the statue of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Following this, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu visited the Gandhi Bedi at Gandhighat, where he offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

The Governor then went to the martyrs’ pedestal at Albert Ekka Park in Lichubagan, Agartala, where he paid homage to the freedom fighters and brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence. He offered floral tributes at the martyrs’ memorial and remembered with deep reverence the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the brave martyrs who fought for the nation’s freedom.

Speaking to journalists afterward, the Governor said that India is the world’s largest democratic nation and has a vast and dynamic youth population. He highlighted the immense potential of the country’s youth power and called upon them to play a crucial role in the nation’s development and progress. He urged the younger generation to actively contribute to the various initiatives undertaken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary goal of building a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

The Governor said that the youth are the country’s greatest strength, and their energy, thinking, innovation, and sense of responsibility can further accelerate India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation. He called upon young people to remain committed to the values of patriotism, discipline, a sense of responsibility, and social harmony, and to make positive contributions to society and the nation. Agriculture and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath was present at the Governor’s programs and paid tribute to the freedom fighters. Also present at the event were the Governor’s Secretary U. K. Chakma and various officials of the district administration.
