Health Camp Organised by Transport Department in Dharmanagar To Marks On Road Safety Month.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 29th of January, 2026 : On the occasion of Road Safety Month, the North District Transport Department organized a health camp with multiple public welfare activities at Diglabak area in Dharmanagar of North Tripura district on Wednesday (28th January, 2026). The camp was held around 11 a.m. under the initiative of the district transport authorities. The health camp included a blood donation drive along with HIV–AIDS screening tests and eye check-up facilities. A large number of motor workers from the Dharmanagar area participated in the camp. Besides them, office staff of the Transport Department, drivers and helpers also actively took part in various health check-ups and voluntarily donated blood. A total of 25 people donated blood at the blood donation camp. Many drivers and motor workers also availed themselves of HIV–AIDS screening and eye examinations to assess their health condition.

According to the organisers, the primary objective of the programme was to ensure the health and safety of drivers and motor workers, who play a crucial role in road transportation. Addressing at the event, District Transport Officer Esther Jongte stated that the month of January is observed as Road Safety Month, during which various workshops and awareness programmes are organized. Among these initiatives, health camps and blood donation drives are considered significant steps. She also mentioned that drivers who do not use helmets are made aware of road safety rules, and helmets are provided to them wherever necessary. She further added that road safety and public awareness programmes are not limited to the month of January alone but are carried out throughout the year. Special awareness programmes on road safety are also organized in different schools to educate students and inculcate safe road habits from an early age.
