Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the Weekend Tourist Hub in front of the main gate of the Ujjayanta Palace, Agartala on Sunday (30th July, 2023).
Weekend Tourist Hub will remain open every week on Saturdays and Sundays during summer from 4pm till 9pm and during winter from 3pm till 8pm. ‘No Vehicle Zone’ has been declared for the area starting from Sherowali Sweets to Rabindra Bhawan and Jackson Gate Traffic Point during the Weekend Tourist Hub’.
“Weekend Tourist Hub is a new wing of Tripura tourism. Such programs based on tourist centers can be observed in developed states of the country. From today, the residents of the state can also enjoy this weekend tourist hub event every Saturday and Sunday”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the inauguration ceremony of the Weekend Tourist Hub in front of the main gate of the Ujjayanta Palace. In the event, the Chief Minister also said that apart from daily work, people’s minds need entertainment. Such a weekend tourist hub would be very useful for such recreational needs. This weekend tourist hub will be able to attract foreign tourists as well. The Chief Minister said cultural programs will be organized every Saturday and Sunday at the weekend tourist hub, starting with traditional traditions of 19 tribal communities and emphasizing the traditions of Tripura’s royal family and royal palace. As a result, the talent of artists will develop. Emphasis is placed on recreational as well as educational tourism through weekend tourist hubs.
The Chief Minister also added that the communication system of the state is much improved today due to the active role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So now the tourism of Tripura has been promoted and expanded a lot. The number of tourists in the state is increasing every year. In the event, Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the people of Tripura are tourism lovers. This weekend tourist hub is being launched from today with recognition of the love of tourism of the people of Tripura. The State Government has selected this place as a weekend tourist hub out of respect for the royal family and royal palace. There will be many opportunities to learn about the state’s art, culture, heritage and royal history.
Secretary of the Transport and Tourism Department Uttam Kumar Chakma delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha also spoke on the occasion. Director of Tourism Department Tapan Kr. Das has concluded the ceremony with vote of thanks. Debapriya Bardhan, District Magistrate of West Tripura District, SP Traffic Manik Das, West District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar and many other dignitaries were present in the inauguration ceremony of the Weekend Tourist Hub.
